Seven Mysterious Mansions is a three-disc gaming adventure, revolving around a character named Ippei from a high-profile background. He is invited by his uncle, Shujiro, who is the current head of his family. Shujiro is worried about seven mansions that were constructed by Ippei's grandfather, Shuhei, in a Big Dipper formation on an isolated island. These mansions have never been fully traversed by members of Ippei's generation. Shujiro's plan involves making a resort on the site of the mansions, but he believes there's a remarkable treasure or secret left by their forefathers. As Shujiro cannot explore the mansions due to his age and busy schedule, he delegates this task to Ippei. Before leaving for his expedition, Ippei is warned about three dangerous individuals already present on the island in search of any valuable items. As Ippei delves into each mansion, he learns bits and pieces of his family's past, particularly the dark secrets that prompted Shuhei to construct the seven mansions. It is now up to Ippei to uncover this hidden information before it's gone for good.
The game is available for download via three bin/cue images of mixed mode CDs, accessible through Adventure Legends courtesy of bakuDD. You can utilise Toast (Mac) or ImgBurn (Win) to burn these images onto physical CDs. Each CD is equipped with both the Mac game track and the audio tracks. To begin the game, drag the game folder on CD1 to your Mac while the CD stays mounted. The game necessitates a 68040 or PPC processor, along with a 640 x 480 display and 256 colours. It operates fine on a 68040 LC630 running SSW 7.5, though it may not function on PPC Macs with Mac OS 8 or 9.
